Grand National betting: 2026 Aintree William Hill Handicap Hurdle contenders and tip
Ahead of the 2026 Grand National, Coral previews all of the races taking place at Aintree, continuing with the William Hill Handicap Hurdle on Friday, April 10.

2026 William Hill Handicap Hurdle contenders and tip
A full-sized field of 22 runners lines up for this two and a half mile handicap hurdle, and picking the winner is no easy task.
Coral ambassador Sean Bowen rides Olly Murphy’s Indeevar Blue, who won last time out over course and distance and has since had wind surgery. He carries more weight this time, having risen nine pounds in the handicap as a result, but he makes a lot of appeal here for his in-form trainer.
Nicky Henderson’s Joyeuse is an able mare but she’s hard to trust at the moment, having been a beaten favourite twice this year and failing to impress on her last two outings. She may improve for the step up in trip but others are more convincing.
A new recruit from France, Emid’io Pepe makes a start for Dan Skelton, but there are plenty of unknowns about him too.
Wellington Arch won this race last year at a price of 14/1, but he is significantly higher in the weights this time. Now a seven-year-old, though, he might be able to handle the extra weight in this company and has been in very good form lately.
Harry Fry’s horses are going well currently and his runner Trustintimes could prove to have a bit of weight in hand if the step up to this distance suits him. He looks to be a good spring horse in the making and there ought to be plenty left to come from the five-year-old.
Coral’s big-race tip: Trustintimes each-way at 16/1
