Coral previews Mexico vs England in the World Cup Round of 16
England are tipped to qualify for the quarter-finals with both teams scoring
Harry Kane is tipped for another goal with Julian Quinones having a shot on target

After scraping past DR Congo, England continue their 2026 World Cup journey with a hugely difficult Round of 16 tie against co-hosts Mexico at the Azteca in Mexico City.
The Three Lions needed a late Harry Kane brace to avoid a shock defeat in the Round of 32 and will need to improve if they are to get the better at the home of a Mexico side that has won all four of their games so far without conceding a goal.
Read on for Coral's in-depth preview and bet builder tips for Mexico vs England in the Round of 16. Thomas Tuchel's side are currently slight favourites to qualify at 7/10, but El Tri are also given short odds of progressing at just 21/20.

Our prediction: Mexico 1-2 England
Our predicted XI (4-3-3): Rangel; Sanchez, Montes, Vasquez, Gallardo; Lira, Mora, Romo; Alvarado, Jimenez, Quinones
Our predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Spence, Konsa, Guehi, O'Reilly; Anderson, Rice; Saka, Bellingham, Gordon; Kane
While Mexico are yet to concede a goal at the World Cup, they have not faced a team of England's quality just yet and it would be a surprise to see them stop the likes of Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham from finding the net.
On the other side, the English defence has not looked all that convincing so far, having conceded against both Croatia and DR Congo, while Ghana and Panama both threatened to do the same. With Mexico scoring at least twice in all their games, they will fancy themselves to continue their scoring run.
England's main man was on hand to bail them out with two brilliant goals in the Round of 32, and it feels like their hopes of a deep run in the competition hinge entirely on the form of the Bayern Munich striker, who is currently the favourite for the 2026 Ballon d'Or.
We believe England will score in Mexico City, and it would be foolish to select any other player than the 32-year-old to make the difference as he looks to add to his five goals at the tournament so far.
The World Cup loves a breakout star and Julian Quinones is undoubtedly one of those, with some brilliant displays for his country so far.
Quinones, who plays his club football for Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia, scored the first goal of the tournament against South Africa and he has since added two more, including a brilliant finish from a tight angle in their 2-0 win over Ecuador in the Round of 32.
With the 29-year-old averaging 1.3 shots on target per game so far, he looks good value to test Jordan Pickford with at least one effort on goal.
Finally, we're tipping England to get the job done and secure their place in the quarter-finals with what may well be a statement win at the Azteca, but it may well end up coming in extra-time or penalties.
Many appear to be writing off this England team, but they have shown time and time again at previous tournaments their ability to dig deep in times of adversity and find the win - and in the high-altitude and hostile setting of the Azteca, they will need to summon all that team spirit once again.
Along with what the bookies are suggesting, our experts believe the Three Lions will find a way and set up a quarter-final tie against either Brazil or Norway.
You can bet on these outcomes individually, or group them together into a Mexico vs England bet builder, which combines for a 21/2 bet at the time of writing.
