This will be Sears Crossing’s first run over hurdles. He was very capable on the Flat, and his form reads quite well on paper. He’s performed well over a mile and a half on soft ground, which should stand him in good stead here. Hopefully, that will be enough to see him run a solid race.
Busty Boy has been very consistent without quite getting his head in front. He ran a great race in this last year when only just beaten, so we know he stays well. He had a nice spin over a shorter trip last time which should have put him spot on, and I’d like to think he’ll go very close.
I won on Roaring Conquest earlier in the season at Windsor. He ran okay at Carlisle on his next start but then was a bit disappointing at Sandown. I thought his run last time out was a step back in the right direction. Stepping up to three miles, two furlongs will really suit him as he stays well. He might not look obviously well handicapped, but the trip and track should play to his strengths.
All Inn Hand won on her chasing debut, but that was about a year ago and she’s been off the track for a long time. It’s never easy coming back from a break like that, especially off a career-high mark. This run will just get her season started and we can build from there.
Go Dante is a grand old horse. Things didn’t quite go to plan in the Imperial Cup last time as he seemed a bit flat out, but today’s trip should suit him much better. The handicapper knows plenty about him, but he’s still not badly treated based on his earlier win this season. Hopefully he can bounce back to form.
Berkenshtaaap had a bit of a messy run at Haydock last time. They went quick early, then it steadied up, and he ended up getting there a bit too soon. Things just didn’t fall right for him. This is his first run in a handicap, and he’s been dropped a couple of pounds, so I think he’s got a big chance off this mark.
This will be my first ride on board Poet’s Gale. When Tony Martin sends one from Ireland, you always feel it has a chance. This horse’s form on paper is not strong, but I am sure there will be improvement in him.
I’ve not ridden Rock On Ronnie before, but he ran nicely enough on debut. He’ll need to improve on that, but he’s had a nice break since and should come on for it. Hopefully, he can take a step forward here.
