Premier League team of matchweek 25: Ferocious Foxes in fiery form

Centre back: Joleon Lescott (Aston Villa)

Villa recorded their only their third win of the season in the league, and Lescott’s opener, and later goal-line clearance, helped his side on their way to a crucial 2-0 victory over fellow relegation-threatened team Norwich City.

Left back: Ben Davies (Tottenham)

Like fellow Spurs full back Trippier, Davies was lively throughout against Watford and set up many attacking plays as well as ensuring a clean sheet.

Right wing: Jesse Lingard (Manchester United)

The Red Devils thought they’d won the match after Lingard’s wondergoal put them 1-0 up, before Diego Costa’s injury-time equaliser, but still a point at Stamford Bridge is a good result.

Centre midfield: Tom Cleverley (Everton)

Cleverley was at the heart of the Toffees’ 3-0 away success at Stoke City, providing the opener after being fouled by Jack Butland for a penalty and then taking the corner to pick out Seamus Coleman to double the visitors’ lead.

Centre midfield: Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal)

Arsenal kept the pressure on Leicester and north London rivals Tottenham at the top end of the table after beating Bournemouth 2-0 away, and they can thank Ramsey. The Welshman was involved in the first goal and set up the second.

Left wing: Riyad Mahrez (Leicester City)

The Foxes’ season just keeps getting better, as they are now five points at the top of the table, largely thanks to their main man Mahrez, who provided a free-kick for Huth’s opener before scoring a wonderful goal early in the second-half.

Striker: Roberto Firmino (Liverpool)

His side may have dramatically slipped up to Sunderland, but the Brazilian’s headed effort and then assist for partner-in-crime Adam Lallana gave the Reds a 2-0 lead.

Striker: Aleksandar Mitrovic (Newcastle United)

Serbia striker Mitrovic’s sole goal of the game and all-time performance against the Baggies helped the Magpies out of the relegation zone.
