Premier League team of matchweek 13: Liverpool attackers Red hot

Although Newcastle United are in a bad run of form, coming to St James’ Park is no easy task to take all three points, let alone keep a clean sheet. Foxes captain Morgan ensured his side did just that, as they ran out 3-0 winners, which means boss Claudio Ranieri (whose team are 7/4 for a top six finish) owes them another pizza each!

Centre back: Ryan Shawcross (Stoke City)

Since returning from injury, Shawcross has secured three clean sheets, against Newcastle, Chelsea and now Southampton, and he put in another top-class performance away to the latter.

Left back: Erik Pieters (Stoke City)

Dutchman Pieters was another to help his team keep a clean sheet, away to Southampton, and on top of that set up the winner as he found Bojan Krkic from the left with a great cross.

Right wing: Roberto Firmino (Liverpool)

Jurgen Klopp has certainly breathed hope back into Liverpool (7/4 top four chances) since being appointed boss, and Firmino has been one of many to flourish so far. The Brazilian was simply unstoppable against Man City, as got his first Reds goal and made two assists.

Centre midfield: Jonjo Shelvey (Swansea City)

Another who could be a big part of England’s future, Shelvey was crucial to help the Swans come back from 2-0 down against Bournemouth to draw. He laid on a decent pass for Andrew Ayew’s goal, before he slotted home from the spot to equalise.

Centre midfield: Ross Barkley (Everton)

It’s hard to believe that Barkley is still just 21 years old, especially after witnessing his incredibly mature and mesmerising display against Villa, where he netted twice and set up another.

Left wing: Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool)

Surely it is only a matter of time until the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona come in for Coutinho, after he put in another worldly display to get a fine goal as well as set up Brazil compatriot Roberto Firmino.

Striker: Harry Kane (Tottenham)

Kane continued his fine scoring form, after a slow start to the season, as he bagged a brilliant brace in Spurs’ 4-1 demolishing of London rivals West Ham at White Hart Lane.

Striker: Romelu Lukaku (Everton)

The big Belgian’s eighth and ninth Premier League strikes of the campaign, second only to Vardy’s 13, helped his side thrash the Villans and move up to seventh in the table.
