Jockey and Coral ambassador Jim Crowley previews his three rides at Newmarket on Thursday.

This three-year-old maiden is a traditionally strong Newmarket heat, with lots of well-bred runners making their debut, and this renewal looks no different. Kathab has already been gelded so he may not have been entirely straightforward as a two-year-old, but Shadwell have kept hold of him and hopefully will be rewarded for that. I’ve not sat on him at home, so we’ll find out much more about him here.
Ehraz ran really well at Doncaster last time out, particularly on proper heavy ground that just found him out. He handles cut in the ground, but that was deep, so to finish third was a good effort for his first run of the season. He won here last autumn, albeit that wasn’t the strongest race, so we know he’ll handle the track.
Creative Force looks the one to beat, but I’m confident we haven’t got to the bottom of my fellow yet, and there will be plenty more to come, and so it wouldn’t be the biggest shock if we go close here.
A big day for the Shadwell team, as we will find out if Mostabshir is our 2,000 Guineas horse. He comes here off the back of a Kempton all-weather maiden win last year, so needs to step up considerably, but his recent homework has been very positive.
Fantastic debut performance from Mostabshir winning the @UnibetRacing / British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes.

With Naval Power out it looks as if Mysterious Night and The Foxes are the pair to beat. The former is a Group One winner, in Canada, so has to be respected for a powerful Godolphin team, while the latter won the Royal Lodge here, so on paper my fellow has plenty to find, but I’m very happy with him.
As I say, we’ll see where we are with regard to the Guineas after this, that’s what these trials are all about.
Jim
