Wait Geordie - Chester - 1.30 race odds
Watcha Snoop, Ruby’s Angel & Tricky Tel - Chester - 3.40 race odds
A big week for our local track, and a big week for the yard, as our owners love having runners here, so we’ll be busy over the three days. We start with Wait Geordie in the opening Lily Agnes, and this has been the plan with him for a while.
We were thinking of taking him to Musselburgh for a race, but had he have won that he’d have carried a penalty here, so instead we took him to Bath for a race where the winner wasn’t penalised. I told jockey David Probert that I thought he’d win that day, and also that I thought he’d win the race in the first couple of strides, as he’s always been very fast out of the stalls.
That proved to be the case, and that early speed should be a big advantage to him at Chester. He won well at Bath, and he’s come forward since then, he’s a happy little horse and he looks great. He’s drawn low enough [in stall three] to have a really good crack at this, interestingly the favourite [Adonius] is the winner of the race at Musselburgh we looked at, and so carries a penalty here.
Ours is a little motor bike of a horse, and if he does what he did at Bath he could be difficult to peg back, that’s the hope anyway.
We run three in this six furlongs handicap. Ruby’s Angel is the shortest of the three in the betting, and that seems right as she has the best draw of this trio, in stall one. Her work has pleased me and I do think she has the best chance of the three. She’s done great physically, she’s a much stronger filly this year, and from the lowest draw, I hope she can go really well.
Tricky Tel is a dual Chester winner so it’s annoying he’s been so badly drawn in stall ten, but we can’t do anything about that, while Watcha Snoop is in the middle of them in six. I toyed with the idea of waiting until Friday with Watcha Snoop, but the owners were keen to do both, so all being well he’ll run twice this week.
