Hypnotised is a lightly raced 3yo who is seemingly getting his act together. He's been withdrawn twice recently when the ground was good to soft but should be a leading contender if today's going allows him to take part. WHEELS OF FIRE saw him off in clearcut fashion at Sandown, however, and could easily return to that form, so he gets the vote ahead of Ancient State who put up such a bold show over a slightly longer trip here four weeks ago. Maelstrom, contrastingly, has launched powerful late bids to go 2-2 at this trip. Jer Batt has not won for over two years but he was a close third in this race last year and again holds good each-way prospects.[Richard Austen]
