It was another riveting weekend of sporting highs and lows across the globe, from joyful Leicester City’s crucial step towards the Premier League title, to England’s crushing loss in the World Twenty20 final against the West Indies.

Charlie Appleby’s Secret Brief scooped Doncaster’s first big flat race of the season, the Lincoln Handicap, winning by a neck from Brave Zolo.

As Norwich City edged Newcastle United 3-2 in a thrilling and vital relegation wrangle, Martin Olsson is surrounded by the rest of his Canaries crew, having come up with a goal that could save his side’s Premier League status.

Rocky Fielding had to pick himself off the canvas in the second round to eventually earn a narrow split decision victory over Christopher Rebrasse on Saturday night, with scores of 115-113, 114-113, 114-113 in his favour seeing him lift the WBC international super-middleweight title in Liverpool.

Liverpool’s Callum Smith secured the European super-middleweight strap after stopping Hadillah Mohoumadi inside the opening round at the Echo Arena, also taking one step closer to a world title shot in his very promising career.

Leicester City’s skipper, centre back Wes Morgan, is captured here in euphoric celebration after sending the King Power Stadium into raptures seven points clear of closest Premier League title contenders Tottenham, with a magnificent winner against Southampton. This picture certainly sums up some of Morgans Midlands-based passion!

Manchester United’s Anthony Martial can be seen celebrating his winning goal against Everton, which also happened to be the club’s 1000th ever Premier League strike at Old Trafford, with the backdrop the newly named Sir Bobby Charlton Stand. Apt.

While, in the sphere of World Twenty20 cricket, there was a crown in the grand finale up for grabs at the end of an enthralling tournament. Still, despite putting themselves in a position of power, England managed to lose by an agonising four wickets to the West Indies.
