
Firstly, it’s great that this important Newbury card has been rescheduled. This is something that the BHA, race courses and sponsors are all very proactive with these days, and it’s a real positive for the sport, not just as Cheltenham prep meetings, but they are big days in their own right.
This big hurdle race is of course ultra-competitive as always, but Night Edition was second in the Boodles at last year’s Cheltenham Festival so a big field will hold no fears for him.
He should improve for his first run of the season at Ascot before Christmas, he just got a little bit tired turning into the straight that day. If he does, he could have an each-way chance here.
This is historically one of the best bumpers of the season, and my fellow has a penalty to carry here for his Cheltenham Listed win in November.
That will make life tougher for him here, but I couldn’t fail to be impressed by that win, he looks a really nice type and he’s a lovely ride to pick up.
