After an impressive first test, Stuart Lancaster’s side will be hopeful of building on this for the second against New Zealand, who are odds-on at 1/7 for the victory.
The latest emerging from the England camp is that Manu Tuilagi, who is 14/1 to score the first try, will move from outside centre to right wing, as Marland Yarde shifts to the flanks in place of Jonny May.
In total, Lancaster has made five changes to his England squad that are 9/2 to record victory after the narrow 20-15 loss last time out.
“I always wanted in the back line a balance of pace, power, footballers and people who can distribute as well.
“We need to find out about these players. I’d rather find out now than 12 months from the World Cup and it’s an exciting back line, there’s no doubt about it.”
After missing the first test, scrum half Danny Care is back in contention for England, and will resume his partnership with Owen Farrell, who will join him at half back. This means that Ben Youngs and Freddie Burns are likely to start from the bench.
Up front, Tom Woods is expected to replace James Haskell at blind-side flanker, and hooker Rob Webber, lock Geoff Parling, and number eight Ben Morgan will keep their places in the team following fantastic performances against the All Blacks. Lancaster will be pleased to have strength in depth, with Dylan Hartely, Courtney Lawes and Billy Vunipola backing up Webber et al as substitutes.
“It’s a 23-man squad, and certainly the bench, and the impact they make from the bench, will be critical in the game,” said Lancaster.
“It’s an 80-minute game against the All Blacks and to have those calibre of men coming on in the second half I think will lift our performance.”
New Zealand, meanwhile, are weakened by the loss of star player Israel Dagg, who will not feature due to thigh and knee injuries, and is expected to be replaced by Julian Savea, 7/1 to cross the whitewash first.
