Joe Tizzard Saturday runners schedule

Newbury 3.55 – U Cant Be Serious

We had a fantastic trip to Musselburgh last weekend, with JPR One winning a big prize, and Rock My Way finishing second, so it was a more than worthwhile journey to make with them.  JPR One always picks up a big prize each season, he's rated 160 now, and as a result we’ll keep him in the Queen Mother Champion Chase and the Ryanair, and make a call nearer the time.

He deserves his place at the big festivals for sure, and his win continued our great season.  We’re closing in on a million pounds in prize money, so if we can reach that before the end of the month, we’ll be in a great position heading into those big spring meetings to beat our seasonal best.

A quieter weekend this time, with two nice horses going to Newbury’s big card.  The form of U Cant Be Serious’s two Exeter wins this season has worked out well, and then he just found the ground too lively at Kempton on Boxing Day, it all unfolded too quickly for him.  He’ll appreciate softer ground here, and the step up to near three miles, and as a result I think he’s got a decent chance here.   Fred [Gingell] normally rides him, and as he’s unavailable we’ve booked Sam Twiston-Davies.

Newbury 4.30 – No Way Jay

No Way Jay is a lovely young horse who won his debut well at Wincanton and then ran a good fourth in a Listed bumper at Ascot before Christmas.  This is the same grade, and with the Ascot winner [Bass Hunter] not reopposing here, I’d be hopeful our fellow can be placed again, but whatever he does, he’ll be an exciting novice hurdler next season.
