Kempton 1.10 – Bourbali

Bourbali loves it around Kempton, so we’re happy to be taking him back there. He’s in really good nick at home, and Rian Corcoran, who rode him at Taunton last time and is one of the best seven pounds claimers riding at the moment, is on board again, and that claim will really help as he’s not the biggest horse.

I’m sure he’ll turn up and run his race as usual, he finds it hard to win as he’s so consistent and is penalised accordingly, but I have no doubt he’ll give a good show of himself once again.

Chepstow 2.17 – Star Of Affinity

Star Of Affinity won a two horse race at Plumpton last time as he should have done, although it was pleasing to see his jumping getting better and better through the race that day. He’s up four pounds for that win, and this is the next step up the ladder for him.

I particularly respect Another Fine Mess and Risk De Pluie among the opposition, but it may not be the strongest field overall, and as our fellow had that confidence-boosting win last time, we’re happy to have him back out within a fortnight.

Chepstow 2.55 – Ambion View

Ambion View is coming back after a wind-op. This is a Pertemps qualifier, but originally I just saw it as the right race for him, but I then thought if he did go and bolt up here on his first run after the wind op, I’d kick myself if he wasn’t in the Cheltenham final itself, so we did put him in the Festival race this week.

Rewards shaker

I’ve put a line through his last run, prior to that he ran two nice races, and we’ve taken him away for a gallop since the wind op, so he seems in good form and hopefully we’ll see that improvement here.

Chepstow 3.40 – Western General

Western General is another returning from a wind op. We tweaked his wind previously and he won three races, so while he probably does need better ground, I wanted to get a run into him over this two miles before stepping him back up in trip.

Kempton 4.40 – Baile An Or & Spanish Stroll

Baile An Or has had a couple of runs, it was horrendous ground at Exeter last time but until the last 100 yards or so he was in third, so we were pleased with the run. He’s clearly got an engine and will be lovely novice hurdler next year.

Spanish Stroll is a beautiful, big son of Walk In The Park who we’ve been patient with. He’s had a couple of away days, and obviously we’ll find out more about him here on his racecourse debut.  I would say though that he doesn’t strike me as a speedy bumper type, he’s much more a chaser of the future, although he could run well on raw ability alone.
