Cheltenham 1.45 – Eldorado Allen

There’s plenty of rain in the forecast for Friday, but if it does arrive before racing, it won’t bother this fellow too much, as he’ll go through sloppier ground OK and it might slow down one or two of the others. He also goes well fresh, and this 2 ½ mile trip round here looks an ideal starting point for the season.

The handicapper has never really given him much leeway, but he’s in great form at home, he’s still showing all the enthusiasm for it, and these races are great for these old favourites. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him run into a place at least, particularly as ours are running really well now.   

Uttoxeter 1.52 – Blacksamssenorita

This mare is now eligible for a double GBB [Great British Breeding] bonus, which totals £20,000, so we’ve been patiently waiting for the right opportunity for her to try to win that valuable prize. Only five have been declared for this handicap chase, which should be an advantage for her debut over fences as it’s not a bigger field with all the hustle and bustle there could be.

She’s schooled very well at home, and although her last run over hurdles was over 2 ½ miles, she won over two miles so I’m not concerned she’s dropping back in trip here. She’s got form on soft ground too, so I’m hoping she has a great chance of winning the money, I certainly think she can run a big race.
