Joe Tizzard Aintree Day Two runners blog: 'He could be bang there jumping the last'

Joe Tizzard has three runners on Day Two of Aintree on Friday, April 10, 2026. The Coral ambassador previews those two runners in his latest blog.

Aintree 3.30 - JPR One

We had the choice of this Grade One over 2 ½ miles or a 2 miles handicap on the opening day for this fellow, and, watching the entries come in for the opening day, we made up our minds to wait for this race instead.  We say it every time, he either has to carry top weight in handicaps, or take on the Grade One chasers off level weights, and I think he ran well enough at Cheltenham in the Ryanair Chase [finished fourth] to have another go at a classy race here.

Only seven line up here, I know he’s got a bit to find on form, but he seems in lovely form at home, Aintree is a proper, fair track, and the ground will be perfect I’m sure, so if he can run as he did at Cheltenham last month, I see no reason why he can’t pick up decent prize money, he certainly won’t be out of place here.

Aintree 4.05 – Eldorado Allen

Eldorado Allen’s win at Cheltenham back in November was one of the highlights of our season so far, the horse really deserved that, and he’s been in good form in veterans’ company since then too, he’s been really consistent.

He ran in the National a couple of years ago, he actually led the field for a good way, and really seemed to love the fences, so I hope they can just bring that little extra out of him again here.  He obviously didn’t stay the National trip, but this 2m 5f trip is perfect for him.

He’ll be a big price, but we know he’s capable of running well off this sort of handicap mark, and if the occasion brings out the best in him, I wouldn’t put anyone off having a pound each way on him.

Aintree 4.40 – Kripticjim

Kripticjim ran a very solid race to finish sixth in the Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival, and he won’t mind good to soft ground here, that should really suit him. Like most of ours here this week, they’re coming here after running at the Festival, but they all seemed to have come out that well, including this fellow.

This race can throw up an odd result and big priced winner, and I really don’t think it would be a surprise if he’s bang there jumping the last, and then we’ll see how good he is.  Whatever happens, he remains a young horse we think plenty of.
