Alastair Cook and co will be pleased that Gautam Gambhir has been dropped, as the opener hit a whopping 179 and 97 here last time out, but they have in-form skipper Kohli.

The 28-year-old, ranked number four in the Test batting rankings, smashed 167 in the second Test, and so is 9/4 favourite to get the most runs again in the first innings for the hosts.

If you fancy him in that market, as well as the Men in Blue to triumph, you can back Kohli at a more enticing 9/2 in an enhanced wincast.

Alastair Cook to be top England batsman

From one captain to another, Cook has been one of England’s best batsmen this series so far, and he certainly likes the pitches of India, having hit five centuries there before.

He hit a 50 in the first innings in the second Test, after his 30th hundred in the opening match, so is 3/1 to top score for the tourists in the first innings in Mohali.

Adil Rashid to be top England bowler

Arguably England’s top performer, though, has been Rashid, who has taken 13 wickets so far in his four innings in India.

He seems to be getting better and better now that he’s the main spinner, and so is 5/2 favourite to be best bowler in the first innings.

Ravichandran Ashwin to be top India bowler

To finish off, his odds may not be the most enticing at 5/4 to be top India bowler in the first innings, but the superstar spinner is a near dead cert for this bet to come off.

The off-breaker took a five-for in the opening innings last time out, and is in such great form.
