Recent history dictates Leeds look good for win

Leeds United have won their last three matches against Huddersfield Town and everything currently points to the Elland Road outfit beating the Terriers again in this fiercely contested West Yorkshire derby.

Both teams have shared similar misfortune recently; Huddersfield have only just sacked manager Chris Powell after only three wins in the Championship this season, while Leeds themselves only parted company with Uwe Rosler a couple of weeks ago. The Terriers, though, have just appointed Jurgen Klopp’s former Borussia Dortmund assistant David Wagner as new boss.

It is the away team who have the momentum going into this fixture. They are 21/10 with Coral to win the match and Steve Evans’ side will be encouraged after an impressive showing last time out against Cardiff City, when Alex Mowatt’s wonder-goal secured a 1-0 win.

In the winter of 2014, Mowatt scored in a 5-1 demolition of the Terriers at Elland Road, though is good value at 11/4 to net again anytime, especially if afforded space anywhere near the edge of the area. This fixture last season was decided in the 90th minute when the now departed Billy Sharp grabbed a last-gasp winner for the away side, adding to Sam Byram’s opener and Harry Bunn’s leveller. The latter duo are 10/3 and 7/4 respectively in the anytime market.
