Grand National betting: 2026 Aintree Top Novices’ Hurdle contenders and tip
Ahead of the 2026 Grand National, Coral previews all of the races taking place at Aintree, continuing with the Top Novices’ Hurdle on Friday, April 10.

2026 Top Novices’ Hurdle contenders and tip
This two-mile novices’ hurdle is far from the most open of the races at Aintree this week, with one clear standout in the field of six.
Philip Hobbs and Johnson White’s Sober Glory should outclass most of the rest by a fair way here, having been a reasonably close second to Old Park Star in the Supreme at Cheltenham. He should have few excuses here.
Alan King’s Baron Noir jumped off for that same race at large odds of 33/1, but finished fourth, not beaten too far. On this flatter track, he could finish more strongly and get closer this time, but he still has a bit to find on ratings with the favourite.
The horse to finish third could turn out to be Sinnatra, who wears a first-time hood here. He is back into Graded company having run in a handicap last time, and looks to be best over this trip so could go better than his price suggests.
Coral’s big-race tip: Baron Noir at 10/3
