Wembley stages the second Euro 2020 semi-final and we have picked out some possible England v Denmark betting tips for the big game.

England last reached the last four of this competition in 1996 and will be looking to progress a stage further than the 2018 World Cup, but Denmark have reached their fourth European Championship semi-final and are riding an emotional rollercoaster.

Wednesday’s match is live on ITV and kicks off at 8pm.

England have grown increasingly strong as the tournament has progressed and have yet to concede a goal, their good form continuing on Saturday as they swept aside Ukraine 4-0 which saw them cut to 6/4 favourites in the Euro 2020 winner odds.

England manager Gareth Southgate will be hoping that England end their semi-final hoodoo, having lost their last four since beating Portugal 2-1 at Wembley in 1966 on their way to lifting the World Cup. With enormous home support, England are 1/3 to reach the final and 4/6 to win in 90 minutes.

After a slow start in the group games, England gained confidence with their 2-0 defeat of Germany at the last-16 stage and their path to the semi-finals was made easier when facing a depleted Ukraine side in Rome.

Three headed goals from Harry Kane, Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson added to an early strike from Kane and eased the Three Lions through to another semi-final under Southgate having also got this far at the World Cup.

Denmark have impressed throughout Euro 2020, particularly given the events of their first game when Christian Eriksen collapsed with a cardiac arrest.

Denmark played all their three group games in Copenhagen, but suffered a 1-0 defeat to Finland in their opening game – marred by Eriksen’s collapse just before half-time – and then lost 2-1 to Belgium.

However, the team’s togetherness saw them sweep aside Russia 4-1 to go through to the knockout phase where they dispatched Wales 4-0 in Amsterdam, before overcoming the Czech Republic 2-1 in Baku.

Kasper Hjulmand’s 3-4-3 system has served them well. Up front, Kasper Dolberg – who scored his third goal of the tournament against the Czechs – and Mikkel Damsgaard, will look to end England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s record of 696 minutes without conceding an international goal.

Denmark, who have won only five of their last 15 European Championship finals matches (D2 L8), losing five of the last nine, are the 9/4 underdogs to reach the final and 19/4 to reach the final in normal time.

Bukayo Saka was not in England’s squad for the game against Ukraine after carrying a “slight knock”, but he is available again and Southgate has an otherwise fully-fit squad.

Key battles

Denmark’s central midfielders Thomas Delaney and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg were over-run at times against the Czechs, who wasted some golden opportunities to punish them, but width will be key for England.

Luke Shaw and Raheem Sterling were instrumental down the left against Ukraine, and England have already proved their attacking prowess in the air, so will look to exploit their aerial superiority from dead-ball situations.
