Goodwood 1.20 - Tuscan Star

Tuscan Star has been campaigned over 1m4f on the all-weather over the last few months, and he has shown improvement. He gets into this race at the bottom end of the weights, with just 8st 11lb on his back, so if it would be a good time to take a step forward. I am sure he will be staying on the finish line, and trainer Andrew Balding often targets this meeting with his horses.

This is a competitive-looking handicap, with Sing Us A Song, Omni Man and Sudu all having good form coming into it.

Goodwood 1.55 - Chic Colombine

This filly has been tried at Listed level, so the owners are on the lookout for some Blacktype with her. It is a valuable contest, and we do look in at the deep end, but the aim will be to run on for some decent prize money at the back end of the race. The big positive is that she is already a C&D winner, so she enjoys it at this racecourse.

Leading jocket David Probert shares his thoughts on his rides at day one of the Chester May Festival on Wednesday, May 7 with Coral readers.

Goodwood 3.45 - Bintjeddah

I am delighted to pick up the ride of Bintjeddah for William Haggas. This filly has a nice profile, and I like the look of her recent form, particularly her second-place finish at Newmarket last time

There are quite a few three-year-olds in this field, and I am sure a few of them will be progressive. My filly has a nice weight, and hopefully the cheekpieces will help bring out some improvement.

Goodwood 4.55 - Cracking Gold

This horse has plenty of ability. He won at Newmarket last time, where everything worked out for him. He was raced patiently, and the gaps appeared at the right time. I will ride him the same way here. It would be great to ride a winner of Paul and Clare Rooney, as they are great owners in the sport.

Sussex Stakes Thoughts

I am excited to see Field Of Gold back in action, as there is a strong argument to suggest he is the best horse in training right now. His performance in the St James’s Palace Stakes was magnificent. His connections opted against running the Coral-Eclipse to give him some time off, so he should be quite fresh for this appearance.

Rosallion has been a top-class miler, so he should test Field Of Gold here, but I think the three-year-old is going to take the world of beating.
