David Probert Ebor Festival Day One rides blog: 'I am hopeful of a big run'

David Probert's ride on Day One of Ebor Festival is previewed by the jockey himself in his latest Coral ambassador blog, while he also offers his thoughts on the Juddmonte International later on Wednesday.

• Goodwood Galaxy - York - 2:25 race odds

Goodwood Galaxy is a progressive type who I won on first time out at Beverley. He went into that race being well thought of, and he lived up to the expectation with an excellent performance on quick ground.

Turning to his second start at Goodwood, I was not on board. However, I don’t think the course suited him in the Vintage Stakes. That said, it was not a bad run. I have spoken to Oisin Murphy, and he told me he was just a little inexperienced in the race, but he is confident he is a nice horse for the future.

York is a racecourse he should handle well. I think the Godolphin runner, Distant Storm, is the one we all need to beat. I am looking forward to getting on board my horse, and I am hopeful of a big run.

The betting suggests the Juddmonte International is a match-up between Ombudsman and Delacroix. The latter was excellent in the Coral-Eclipse when beating the Godolphin runner by a neck. I can see the same two horses fighting it out at the finish at York, and it is very difficult to predict which way they will finish this time around.
