The Coral Racing Club has taken the decision to sell their star racehorse and now broodmare, Annie Mc, and the daughter of Mahler will go under the hammer tomorrow, Wednesday, at the Goffs December NH Sale in Ireland, as lot 762.

Annie Mc was the standard bearer for the UK's biggest free to join racing club, and began her point-to-point career finishing second to Honeysuckle.  She went on to win seven of her 16 races including a Grade 2 over hurdles at Newbury, and two listed chases at Doncaster and Warwick

She also took the Club and ten lucky members to the 2020 Cheltenham Festival, when she ran in the Grade 1 Marsh Novices' Chase, and won more than £120,000 in prize money.

On retirement from the track she was covered by top French stallion, Doctor Dino, with the resultant yearling colt selling recently for 40,000 euros at the Tattersalls Sale in Ireland. She is now in foal to Golden Horn with a due date in February.

Coral Racing Club spokesman, Simon Clare, said:  Whilst our unique and innovative Coral Racing Club continues to engage and entertajn tens of thousands of our active customers, we have taken the pragmatic decision that breeding racehorses is not central to the purpose of the Club, and it therefore makes sense to sell Annie Mc to a breeding operation where she will be well looked after and valued.

"She was a brilliant racehorse, and is now enjoying a new career as a mum, giving birth to a new generation of racehorses, who will hopefully share her talented genes.  Our ambassador, Chris Hughes, has been Annie Mc's biggest fan since the day he first laid eyes on her in 2018, and has often described her as the number one woman in his life! Thanks to Chris's huge social media following, she was one of the best known racehorses around."

Coral Racing Club ambassador, Chris Hughes, added:  It really was love at first sight for me and Annie, she was a charismatic racehorse, full of sass and personality, and I enjoyed so many great days cheering her on to some fantastic victories.  The team at Jackdaws Castle, led by Jonjo O'Neill, trained her brilliantly throughout her career, and they even let me ride her out on several occasions!

He added:  "While I will be sad to see her leave the Coral Racing Club, she will be going to a great new home, and I can't wait to see how her sons and daughters perform on the track for many years to come.  I will be in attendance at Goffs so we can tell the full story of her sale to the Club members, it will be emotional for sure, and who knows, maybe I'll even end up bidding for her!"
