Coral Horse Racing: Saturday ITV Races - January 31, 2026
12.55 - Sandown
TIP: Tennessee Tango
Despite having to shoulder topweight, this Joe Tizzard-trained six-year-old has the most potential for further improvement here and has shown a good level of consistency in his races so far this term. His bumper form at Taunton displayed ability on testing ground, which could be the secret.
1.25 - Sandown
TIP: Norn Iron
A consistent type, Norn Iron is back on a more competitive mark now and could be suited by the step back up in trip and a softer surface on which to run. Harry Cobden taking the ride is a bonus.
2.02 - Sandown
TIP: Gunsight Ridge
Trainer Olly Murphy is in great form this term and this 11-year-old is a course and distance winner who thrives on testing ground. Back on his latest winning mark, he could be very competitive here.
2.40 - Sandown (Scilly Isles Chase)
TIP: Kitzbuhel
Swerving the Dublin Racing Festival in favour of this race, Kitzbuhel should outclass the rest here having last been seen winning the Grade One Kauto Star at Kempton on Boxing Day. Harry Cobden rides for the first time, and this could be a steering job.
2.55 - Leopardstown (Irish Arkle)
TIP: Romeo Coolio
Coming here having won a pair of Grade One chases in November and December, Romeo Coolio should outclass the other two here. Downmexicoway can run a big race on the surface, but the favourite’s raw ability should win him this.
3.10 - Sandown
Tip: Henri The Second
With two very good performances over course and distance, both on heavy ground, under his belt from last season, this Paul Nicholls-trained nine-year-old looks nicely primed to win this given his preferred conditions with Harry Cobden in the saddle.
3.30 - Leopardstown (Irish Gold Cup)
Tip: Spindleberry e/w
With the mares’ weight allowance, this mare could do better than the market appreciates, having won the Grade One WillowWarm ahead of some top class geldings in the past. She is bred to excel over this longer trip, and she may handle the soft ground better than those higher in the market.
3.42 - Sandown
TIP: Nassalam
Despite having pulled up on his two starts so far this term, Nassalam has recently had wind surgery, is down to a tempting mark, and can excel on ground like we have today. The trainers and jockey are in great form, and he could spring a surprise here.
