Coral Horse Racing: Dublin Racing Festival - January 31, 2026

1.15 - Grade 1 Novice Hurdle

TIP: Doctor Steinberg

The highest class individual in the race on form, having most recently won a Grade Two race at Navan on similar ground ahead of some talented horses, this Willie Mullins representative sets the standard.

1.50 - Grade 1 Juvenile Hurdle

TIP: North Shore e/w

Handy on heavy ground in France, this gelding made a good start over hurdles behind the favourite and could take a big step forward on this much more testing ground and can outrun his odds for a trainer whose form is beginning to pick up.

2.25 - Listed Handicap Hurdle

TIP: Son Of Anarchy

More than capable on heavy ground with a combination of both speed and stamina, this gelding is bred to be well suited by the step up to three miles and could improve again. He is the stable’s first string, if not the owner’s, which influences confidence.

2.55 - Grade 1 Irish Arkle Novice Chase

TIP: Romeo Coolio

Coming here having won a pair of Grade One chases in November and December, Romeo Coolio should outclass the other two here. Downmexicoway can run a big race on the surface, but the favourite’s raw ability should win him this.

3.30 - Grade 1 Irish Gold Cup

Tip: Spindleberry e/w

With the mares’ weight allowance, this mare could do better than the market appreciates, having won the Grade One WillowWarm ahead of some top class geldings in the past. She is bred to excel over this longer trip, and she may handle the soft ground better than those higher in the market.

4.05 - Listed Handicap Chase

TIP: Battle Of Ridgeway

A smart winner at Navan last time out under the same claiming rider, this eight-year-old is steadily improving this season and, having shown the class to finish well in a good race at Cheltenham in November, this could be within reach from the bottom of the handicap.

4.40 - Grade 2 Bumper

TIP: It’s Only A Game

Having won a good bumper at Punchestown last time on difficult ground, this Martin Brassil-trained five-year-old should be the one to beat. The trainer’s horses are holding their form well and the ability to act in testing conditions may win this race.
