Still a maiden after three starts but this race looks like one she is primed to strike in on handicap debut for the George Boughey yard having finished midfield last time out.
Plenty of interesting newcomers take to the track in this maiden stakes but one with experience gets the nod, with Ghaiyyath colt Tewkesbury not knocked around when fourth at Southwell on racecourse debut 18 days ago.
A good second over course and distance just last week and was a winner at Southwell prior to that so Charlie Hohnston’s runner has the all-weather form to strike again here.
Off for six months and starting out with new trainer Kevin Phillipart De Foy having looked highly promising on debut in a valuable contest at York, these are much calmer waters and a first win of his career beckons.
Michael Herrington’s six-year-old is in good nick, a winner over course and distance in October and a decent third last time out having been hit hard by the handicapper so can get back to winning ways here.
Needs to get away from the stalls better than last time out at Lingfield when finishing a lowly ninth but did place on his last run here 34 days ago so that should work in his favour.
Has placed twice on the all weather, including at Chelmsford when last seen and clearly enjoys this surface more than the turf and isn’t fully exposed on the all-weather so could spring a surprise.
Third in a C&D handicap when last seen, now with a hood added to help further, he can get off the mark in what looks a pretty open contest
A last-time-out winner for trainer Richard Fahey, has only been nudged up 3lb in the weights for that Newcastle success so has very strong claims to follow up over a longer trip.
