November 28, 2025 - Coral's Daily Racing Tips

Newbury Long Distance Hurdle Day

12.15 - Act Of Innocence - 10/3

This will be far from an easy race to win, but Nicky Henderson has been cleaning up in maiden company lately and this horse, who was a good fourth of 11 in a Listed bumper at this track in February, could be his next maiden success.

12.45 - Palacio - 11/2

While Mambonumberfive is the best in class on paper, his relative youth may make him vulnerable to more mature types, of which seven-year-old Palacio looks to have the best conditions to win, given three pounds by his rider, Dylan Thomas.

1.15 - Highland Crystal - 2/1

This is a high class contest with plenty of chances, but this Gordon Elliott-trained Irish raider won her first start over hurdles in emphatic style by 14 lengths at Punchestown on heavy ground and will only find this easier given a sounder surface. NAP.

1.50 - Crest Of Fortune e/w - 12/1

The John Francome Novices’ Chase has numerous household name horses in the mix but it might be worth taking an each-way chance on Crest Of Fortune, who - slightly younger than the rest - is an improving sort who started over fences very well at Cheltenham and could be expected to come forward for that performance.

2.25 - Heltenham - 5/1

Another race with some big names on the card, plenty will look the way of American Mike here, but this distance is shy of his optimum trip. Dan Skelton’s Heltenham has had wind surgery and, if it’s been effective, he may prove to be well treated at a track he has a good record at.

3.00 - Strong Leader - 2/1

Olly Murphy’s main talking horse, Strong Leader, won the Grade Two West Yorkshire Hurdle when reappearing for this term ahead of the opposing Take No Chance and Doddiethegreat. Given his excellent record and trainer’s current prowess, there should be little to prevent him from another big winning run here.

3.35 - I’m A Lumberjack - 12/1

In what might be the most open race of the day, where many of the contenders are tried over three miles for the first time, Alan King’s I’m A Lumberjack looks to be among the most likely to improve for the extra distance and could produce a career best today.
