A good start to the season when third of seven at this track last month should have set this James Owen-trained six-year-old up nicely to get closer to the front now down a pound in the weights.
The Twiston-Davies’ horses are in great form at present and, while this gelding hasn’t been seen on a racecourse since this time last year, he was capable and consistent, especially on the ground we have here. Wind surgery may help him bounce back to that good form.
With form in some high-class bumpers, Caballero Cliff made a fair start over hurdles, finishing midfield at Newbury. A step forward could be expected here and he can go well on the ground.
This ought to be an easy enough race to win for this Dan Skelton-trained mare, who steps back down to two miles here. She has winning point-to-point form on heavy ground and should be the best in class today.
Jamie Snowden’s horses are going very well this term and Livingit Du Large could be the next winner. He has run well at this track a;ready this season, goes well on difficult ground and could benefit from a step up in trip today.
Another for Dan Skelton, Jet Plane is down to what should be a winnable mark here, having come down two pounds since last time out. He is versatile on the ground, so has plenty in his favour.
Despite a rise in the weights after a win at this track last time, Jewel Eyed Judy’s new handicap is reduced somewhat by the employ of five-pound claimer James Turner, who could get the mare up to win again.
