Although this is just a three-runner race, it’s competitive nonetheless and Taurus Bay is the least exposed of the three, but represents a yard bang in-form and won a high quality novices’ hurdle in October, so might be able to get the better of the other two at a price.
Stepping back up to three miles today, this horse has come down to what could be a winnable mark if he takes to the longer trip this time. Given three pounds by Joe Williamson, he should be competitive for Phil Kirby.
Having placed on his reappearance off the same mark as today and with five pounds from rider Tom Broughton, Inedit Star can get involved here for a place at the very least. We can expect a step forward in fitness from his seasonal debut, though, and he could win.
Warren Greatrex’s horses are running very well at present and winning plenty so Margaret’s Legacy, who was a good second on his return to action, looks to have a big shout here, stepping up in class but carrying a nice weight.
Despite having been beaten 33 lengths on heavy ground at Cheltenham last time, the track at Aintree today ought to suit Lord much better and can help him regain his usual classy winning form.
As the only six-year-old in the field, Excello has the most improvement potential and a strong seasonal debut at this track last month in the Grand Sefton was promising. Given a longer trip here, he could get further to the front.
Looking to benefit from a step back down in trip from last time out, Act Of Authority’s mark is beginning to ease and, with Lewis Saunder’s five pounds in hand, he could be our winner
