The son of Grand National-winning jockey, Brendan Powell senior, Brendan junior was destined for a career in the saddle. He rode his first winner under Rules as a 16-y-o amateur in 2011, on Home, trained by his dad, and two years later rode his first Cheltenham Festival winner, Golden Chieftan, trained by Colin Tizzard.
In 2020, he rode his second Cheltenham Festival winner, The Conditional, for David Bridgewater, but it’s his relationship with the Tizzards that continues to this day, with Brendan stable jockey to Colin’s son Joe.
Aside from his talents in the saddle, in recent years Brendan has showed the world his acting skills, with starring roles in Coral’s social media hits Love Actually and Love Actually 2!
