Coral shares its preview and tip for the Tingle Creek this weekend as the two-mile superstars light up the track at Sandown.
2025 Tingle Creek preview, contenders and big-race tip
A small field of five will take on the 2025 Tingle Creek at Sandown on Saturday but that doesn’t mean the race isn’t lacking in quality.
Back-to-back winner of this contest in 2023 and 2024, Jonbon, is back for another crack for trainer Nicky Henderson and becomes just the second horse in history to win the prestigious race three times. Jonbon has won five of his six races at Sandown so clearly likes the track but will have to bounce back from a disappointing run last time out at Cheltenham in the Shloer Chase, where he was beaten by one of his opponents on Saturday.

L’Eau Du Sud was victorious back at Prestbury Park by a wide margin, seeing off the challenge of Jonbon for trainer Dan Skelton and will be near the top of the market here in a classy contest. He won a Grade 1 novice contest on this card last season too so likes the track in Surrey and his trainer is flying high at the top of the Trainers’ Championship standings.
Il Etait Temps will likely be the leader in the market come post time for super trainer Willie Mullins, a winner on seasonal reappearance in the Clonmel Oil Chase, so has prepped very nicely for this run in the Tingle Creek. Mullins’ runner is in a rich vein of form too, unbeaten in four since being defeated in the 2024 Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival so could prove to be tough to see off here as the Irish raider in a race Mullins has long-targeted.

Boothill and Libberty Hunter round out the field as the outsiders of the five. The Harry Fry-trained Boothill was pulled up on reappearance earlier this season and Libberty Hunter hasn’t finished his last two starts so perhaps explains why he’s one of the two at the bottom of the market.
Coral’s big-race tip: Jonbon e/w @ 4/1
