This is a complex event with any number of horses who could improve and a case can be made for many. Two juveniles stand out on what we have seen, namely the poorly drawn Great Barrier Reef (second choice) who is the conventional pick on form, representing solid European Group-race form and figuring to improve at this distance, and the freakish US-trained How's Al Today who has a huge turn of foot and has been a revelation switched from dirt to turf, scoring in fast times. But an interesting colt lurks in the shape of MAN'S BEST FRIEND whose action and pedigree scream that returning to fast ground will suit; he is out of a Galileo mare and should thrive under a patient ride at this trip. Haffner is tough and well worth considering too. [James Willoughby]
