Verdict

The unfortunate absence of last year's winner Marine Nationale, who was ruled out last week due to a setback, leaves the door wider open for Majborough who is now firmly the one to beat provided the form of his Dublin Chase success is backed up and the mistakes he made in the 2025 Arkle don't resurface. The return to Cheltenham also presents a slight question mark for his stablemate Il Etait Temps who is otherwise one of the main dangers on the figures. Shloer winner L'EAU DU SUD is a rock-solid alternative who is suitably fresh, has no doubts as regards the course and remains open to further progress. Unexposed novice chaser Irish Panther (second choice from a punting perspective) adds great interest, while Quilixios again seems likely to go well.[Steve Boow]
