Manchester United's Treble win crowned most memorable domestic football moment

Manchester United’s dramatic 1998-99 Treble-winning season has been voted as the most memorable moment of the last 100 years in British domestic football by fans. In a nationwide survey of more than 1,500 supporters commissioned by bookmaker Coral to celebrate their centenary year in 2026, Sir Alex Ferguson’s historic campaign emerged as the standout moment from the last ten decades.

Leicester City’s fairytale Premier League title win in 2015/16, which defied odds of 5,000/1, claimed second place in the poll, while Arsenal’s unbeaten Invincibles season in 2003-04 secured the third spot.

Manchester United featured again, in the fourth spot, when their historic 1968 victory against Benfica saw them become the first ever English club to lift the European Cup. 

Other moments to make the top ten included Sergio Aguero’s dramatic late winner against QPR to snatch the 2011-12 title for Manchester City, Arsenal’s last-gasp title win at Anfield in 1989, and the launch of the Premier League in 1992.
