Jim Crowley: “He will turn up and run a big race”
Published:
Our man Jim Crowley rode another impressive horse to victory on day three at Glorious Goodwood, as Royal Scotsman won the Richmond Stakes, and he previews his three rides on Friday for us including a previous Royal Ascot winner in Reshoun.
Reshoun is a smashing horse who won last time out at Newbury and is a Royal Ascot winner too, winning the Ascot Stakes by a short head last year. He is a tough, genuine horse who has gone up three pounds for his last win but he stays all day long.
If this was a three-mile race, it would be perfect for him. He will turn up and run a big race and we just have to hope running off top weight doesn’t burden him too much. He has a favourite’s chance for sure.

Rebel Territory is a very nice horse and this race has been the target for him for a long time now. He missed Royal Ascot and should be ready for this task with good course and distance form in the book.
The only danger is quick ground, as he definitely performs better with some cut in the turf, but connections have waited a long time for this so hopefully he gets a run. I have a ride in an earlier race on the card so I’ll give my opinion to the trainer on the ground before this one and fingers crossed.
He has a good draw, in stall nine, and the pace of the race should suit as he is a strong travelling horse. If he copes with the ground, he will have a great chance.
This is a grand old horse who I’ve ridden quite a few times and who has been round this course a number of times. He’s ran well in this race before and he won it in 2019.
He is a really fun horse to ride, he races on the bridle and then you deliver him late. Whether he is good enough to win at 10 years old, I don’t know, but he is a lovely horse who has won two Canadian Internationals at Woodbine back in 2018 and 2019.
Hopefully he can travel well and pick up a few close to home to run into the prize money with a good race.
