Our predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Pickford / James, Konsa, Guehi, O'Reilly / Rice, Anderson / Madueke, Bellingham, Gordon / Kane
Our predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Asare / Senaya, Adjetey, Opoku, Mensah / Yirenkyi, Owusu / Nuamah, Sulemana, Semenyo / Ayew
England eventually overcame Croatia 4-2 thanks to an exceptional second-half performance, and there was plenty to be excited about but also plenty to improve on. The first-half defending will not get England far and Marc Guehi is expected to come in, but it is a long time since the Three Lions have looked so impressive in attack in a major tournament. Noni Madueke and Jude Bellingham both justified their selections, while the impact of Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford off the bench showed the depth of England's squad.
Ghana beat Panama 1-0 in a drab game that had a dramatic ending, as Caleb Yirenkyi scored a 95th-minute winner to secure victory for the Black Stars. It was a game of few chances and Ghana had just two shots on target, with England representing a significant step up in quality. The likes of Antoine Semenyo still provide a serious threat, but we think Thomas Tuchel's side will have too much. We're predicting a 3-1 win for England.
To go with our 3-1 prediction, we're selecting over 2.5 goals as part of our England vs Ghana bet builder. England have scored seven goals in their last two games and could have had more against Croatia. Although Ghana didn't look especially threatening against Panama, Antoine Semenyo, Jordan Ayew and Kamaldeen Sulemana could cause problems for an England defence that didn't look too secure in the opener.
England's skipper got off to the perfect start with two goals against Croatia, and the Three Lions' hopes of going all the way rest heavily on the shoulders of their captain. Kane already has one World Cup Golden Boot to his name and is one of the favourites to win it in 2026, and we're backing him to add to his tally by scoring against Ghana.
Ex-Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey was denied entry to Canada for Ghana's opening game against Panama in Toronto, due to criminal charges he is facing in the UK. He's a key player for Ghana and likely to start against England in
Partey's role in the team involves him breaking up play, and his direct opponent is Jude Bellingham, who turned the tide for England in the second half against Croatia. Partey has been booked in two of his last three international games, and we're tipping him to be shown a card against England.
You can bet on these selections individually, or combine them into an England vs Ghana bet builder, which currently has odds of 6/1.
