Tipping Tim’s Weekend Bets

I’ve been so busy today that I almost forgot to write my blog.  There is so much racing on at the moment that I have got repetitive strain injury from constantly switching between Racing UK and ATR (that’s what I told the wife anyway), and this weekend’s schedule is relentless. Taking centre stage are the opening classics, the 2000 Guineas on Saturday and the 1000 Guineas on Sunday and, having bet six losers on the bounce, I reckon I am due a couple of winners.

The nap has to be Bracelet in the 1000 Guineas (3.50 Newmarket, Sunday).  It’s not often you see a  Classic with market leaders trained by Clive Brittain and George Margarson, so there has to be some value further down the list.  J Wonder would win this but master trainer Brian Meehan has decided to save her a Nottingham conditions race in October, so I will place my faith in the power of Ryan Moore.  Bracelet managed to win when most Coolmore horses were falling out the back of the telly and, with the top man doing the steering, she has the class to mow down higher rated rivals here.

Kingman will probably win the 2000 Guineas (3.50 Newmarket, Saturday) but I don’t do 7/4 pops so I’m going to take a chance on French raider Charm Spirit at a huge price. He scrambled home on his seasonal return at Maisons-Laffitte but Freddie Head would have left plenty to work on so, with the drying ground sure to suit, he should out-run monster odds tomorrow.

For the Trixie I will place my faith in The Confessor (2.55 Goodwood).  He loves Goodwood, he is the best handicapped horse in the race, and his trainer Henry Candy is having winners all over the place. That will do for me!
