1.10 – Springs A Girl
Springs A Girl ran well on her seasonal reappearance at Worcester over a shorter trip than she would like. She jumps very well, she will be sharper for this assignment, and this step up to 2m4f is ideal. I think she is overpriced in the betting.
1.45 – Inishcorker
Inishcorker is a new horse in Rebecca Curtis’ yard. He won a point-to-point in Ireland, and being by Jukebox Jury, I should imagine he will be a stayer. There are a lot of unexposed horses in this field, but Rebecca has clearly been impressed by her runner to run him at this meeting on his first start under Rules.
2.20 – Backmersackme
Emmet Mullins knows how to pull a rabbit out of the hat. This horse has been down the field in his last few races, but showed some decent form last year. We have a nice low weight, so if he can find his best form again, it will be interesting to see what he can do.
2.55 – Long Draw
Long Draw was in excellent form at the back end of last season. His best runs often come around Cheltenham. The aim for this horse will be to qualify for the Pertemps Hurdle Series finals, and if he is sharp first time out, he will have a massive chance of winning this race.
3.30 – Hamlet’s Night
I like this horse a lot. He is a very good jumper, and he travels well through his races. He has a bit to do to put it up to Give It To Me Oj, who looks a classy horse, but he is open to improvement. If he runs well here, we will consider some valuable handicap races later in the season.
4.40 – Antarctic Legend
Antarctic Legend is making his first start in a National Hunt Flat race. He is trained by Charlie Fellowes, who has had some nice horses on the Flat. He looks like a well-bred horse, so it is a good spare ride to pick up.
