Jamie Spencer thinks it will be a ‘walk in the park’ for Taghrooda
Published:1.55 – DBS Premier Yearling Stakes – 6f
Gaudy has improved with each race he has had so far. This will be a tough test for him today though. He won over seven furlongs last time at Newbury but it is logical to drop back down to 6f for this race as there is big prize money on offer. I do think Kevin Ryan’s Fact Act will be hard to beat and is a worthy favourite from what we have seen from him so far, but if Gaudy can pick up some money we’ll be delighted. He’s got the visor on for the first time this afternoon and that may just bring out some improvement.
3.40 – Darley Yorkshire Oaks (Group 1) – 1m4f
I’ve no ride in the Yorkshire Oaks this afternoon but it looks like a walk in the park for Taghrooda. The track will suit her and with volume in the race there should be a nice even pace. The danger, if any, will be Venus De Milo but Taghrooda will have to run poorly to get beat today. On paper, Taghrooda should extend her unbeaten record and there may be a lot more to come from her later in the season where she will no doubt be involved in some big races,

My second ride of the day is on Noble Protector in the fifth race on the card. This filly won a Listed race last time out at Newmarket by five lengths. It will be my first time riding her so I am looking forward to it. She had also run well in a Listed contest previous to her win so she comes into this race today with some solid form behind her. This will be her fifth run of the season and it looks like she is still improving so I am hoping she can do the same today. She has got a four pound penalty which doesn’t make it easy but she has a good chance of making it back-to-back wins in this company.
