British contenders 14-1 to land Oscar hat-trick
Published:Coral bookmaker is predicting a successful night for British talent at this year’s Oscars, making 12 Years a Slave, Steve McQueen and Chiwetel Ejiofor 14-1 to win their respective categories.
The award winning production has already won a Golden Globe for Best Drama, and Coral make it the red-hot favourite at 1-6 to win the Oscar for Best Picture, but Steve McQueen and Chiwetel Ejiofor face stiffer competition in their categories at 8-1 and 9-1 respectively.
Coral has also opened betting on a number of Oscars specials. The bookmaker go 2-1 that the Best Actress cries on stage, 10-1 that there’s a wardrobe malfunction on stage and 16-1 that anyone repeats Jennifer Lawrence’s stumble and trips up on stage.
“We’ve been overwhelmed with the patriotic support for British hopefuls at this year’s Oscars and with 12 Years a Slave looking like a certainty to scoop Best Picture, it’s shaping up to be a night of celebration for home talent,” said Coral’s Nicola McGeady.
