1.45 – Gunsight Ridge
It is great that Gunsight Ridge can now run in veterans’ races. Hopefully, that will make life easier for him again. He had some great form behind him last season. I think he probably would have won at Aintree on his last start when coming down at the final fence.
He has been training well going into this, and he has course form at Cheltenham. My only concern is the ground if they get the rain that is forecast to fall. He wouldn’t want it as a slog, especially over 2m4f.
2.20 – Wade Out
Wade Out made an excellent chase debut at Worcester. I am looking forward to him stepping up in trip. He races like he is a three miler, as he is a bit lazy at times, but finishes his races well.
On ratings, he does have something to find on Leave Of Absence. But he jumps well, and he will stay this trip, so he heads there with a massive chance.
4.00 – Bruant
Tony Martin is brilliant at getting a horse ready for a handicap race. He has two in this contest, including the favourite, Alphonse Le Grande, who looks well in on his Flat form. I also think Dan Skelton’s runner, Fortune De Mer, will be one of the horses to beat here, as he is already a Grade Two winner.
I am riding for the right man in a handicap hurdle around Cheltenham. My horse is a winner over hurdles and is at the bottom end of the weights, so if he can take another step forward, hopefully we will be in the mix.
