Just the three runners will tackle the opener, it might only be two come post time, so Nicky Henderson’s charge gets the nod having won two Grade 2s last season and should leave the form of a third on seasonal return behind.
12.23 - Cayman Dancer
The winner of this race in 2023, now in the hands of Gary and Josh Moore who are decent with juvenile hurdlers and bang-infrom, might be worth chancing at a decent price.
12.53 - Kadastral
Hailing from the powerful Dan Skelton yard, a winner of a bumper here in March and second on hurdling debut last time out, so is the one to beat.
Coral ambassador Joe Tizzard gets the nod here with his handy-looking bumper soccer and should improve further from landing an Ascot novice on his last spin last month.
Third in a Grade 2 contest at Cheltenham last year, didn’t show much rustiness following 11 months off when a good third at Uttoxeter on reappearance and can go a couple of spots better at Newbury.
Up 6lb in the weights after a fine win at Bangor last month, should be right up with the leading pack for trainer Ben Pauling bidding for a second straight win.
A newcomer for trainer Anthony Honeyball, a trainer who saddled the second in this race last year and the winner the year before so has undoubtedly targeted this race with this three-year-old.
