SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Gala Coral Group is Europe’s largest integrated betting and gaming company, employing around 17,500 employees.  As well as over 1,700 betting offices, bingo clubs and casinos, we have a significant online presence in the UK and throughout Europe.

Due to substantial growth in our online offer, the E-Commerce Division currently has an excellent opportunity for a Systems Development Manager.   Duties include:

  • Supervise development, maintenance and support of new functionalities for the company’s products;
  • Project management from inception through development and support;
  • Teams performance management
  • Tasks management   

THE CANDIDATE:

With an IT or Scientific academic background you will have relevant experience in IT software development and previous experience as a Development Manager. Previous management experience of a large team and the ability to supervise, motivate and develop a team are required. You will have experience of all stages of the development lifecycle (specification, development, testing and implementation).
Your role will be to manage two development teams (approx 10 engineers) specialised in back-end, 3rd party and data warehouse development.
You will be capable of leading projects from inception to delivery, and you will liaise with all the project stakeholders and the other department managers assessing and managing their expectations. Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills are essential.
You will manage the team’s performance and the day-to-day activities for the projects assigned to them, and help the team leaders in delivering new products according to the business requirement timeline.
Technologies used will include PHP 4 and 5, XML, Oracle 8i  (and above), SQL and PL/SQL (triggers, stored procedures)., Microsoft .NET for rich client applications.
In your position you will report to the Head of IT Development and be accountable to him for the development deliverables of your teams.
