THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Gala Coral Group is Europe’s largest integrated betting and gaming company, employing around 17,500 employees.  As well as over 1,700 betting offices, bingo clubs and casinos, we have a significant online presence in the UK and throughout Europe.

Due to substantial growth in our online offer, the E-Commerce Division currently has excellent opportunities for 3 applications support.   Duties include:

  • Development, maintenance and support of new functionalities for the company’s websites;
  • Analysis of business and user requirements and production of functional specifications;
  • Project implementation from inception through development and support;
  • Testing of web functionality; 
  • Resolving problems on specific platforms.

THE CANDIDATE:

With an IT or Scientific academic background with significant experience in an IT Development environment, you will have experience of all stages of the development lifecycle (specification, development, testing and implementation).  Qualifications will include PHP 4 or 5, XML, Oracle 8i  (or above) or other RDBMS, SQL and PL/SQL (triggers, stored procedures), and basic Unix / Linux administrator skills. Experience in a support role is a definitive advantage.

You will be part of a 2nd line support team that provides cover 7 days a week, 24 hours a day (weekends and night shift is covered on an ‘on-call basis’) after a preliminary training period. The position is full-time and as it involves working shift-based hours, including weekends and bank holidays the position would be better suited to candidates who live within a short commuting distance of the office.

Able to work well within a team, you will have good technical skills, good communication skills and the ability to provide appropriate technical solutions to business related problems

Betting industry experience would be a definite advantage.
